Washim Region Development Plan — key details
The Washim Regional Plan covers Washim district in Maharashtra’s Vidarbha region, prepared under the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966. The plan falls within the Hingoli-Buldhana-Washim-Yavatmal-Nanded group of regional plans for which the Unified Development Control and Promotion Regulations (UDCPR) 2020 provides additional Chapter 5 regulations applicable to plan areas. The District Planning Office at Washim administers the regional plan in conjunction with the constituent municipal councils.
Washim district was carved out of Akola district on 1 July 1998 and lies in the cotton- and soybean-growing belt of western Vidarbha. The town of Washim is the district headquarters and a regional trade centre, while the historic pilgrimage town of Pohradevi (the home shrine of the Banjara community) and the Balaji Mandir at Karanja-Lad are notable cultural landmarks within the district.
The plan overlay on this page reflects the published regional and municipal zoning and land-use boundaries georeferenced over satellite imagery, covering Washim town, the tehsil headquarters of Karanja, Malegaon, Mangrulpir, Manora and Risod, and the surrounding agricultural plains.
