Pune-Mumbai - MSRDC Corridor Development Plan — key details

The Pune-Mumbai – MSRDC Corridor Development Plan is administered by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) acting as Special Planning Authority along the Mumbai-Pune Expressway under the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966. The Government of Maharashtra appointed MSRDC as SPA for an approximately 2-km-wide stretch flanking the Mumbai-Pune Expressway corridor, with the notified area covering roughly 186.72 sq km strategically located between two important urban centres — Mumbai (about 45 km from the SPA boundary) and Pune (about 80 km) — with Navi Mumbai approximately 20 km away.

The corridor is anchored by the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, India’s first six-lane access-controlled tolled expressway, with the recently opened Missing Link bypass at Khopoli (commissioned 1 May 2026) reducing total expressway length by approximately 6 km and shortening travel time. The MSRDC SPA boundary touches second- and third-tier nodes — Panvel (~30 km), Khopoli (~20 km), Lonavala (~12 km), Khandala (~8 km), Thane (~54 km), Kalyan (~52 km) and Karjat (~15 km).

The DP overlay on this page reflects MSRDC’s notified zoning, reservation and road-line boundaries georeferenced over satellite imagery — including the expressway alignment, the interchange-influence buffers, the freight-logistics nodes and the buffer-zone reservations.
