Osmanabad Development Plan — key details

The Osmanabad / Dharashiv District Regional Plan is administered under the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966. Osmanabad district was officially renamed to Dharashiv district by the Government of Maharashtra in 2023. The District Planning Office at Dharashiv coordinates the regional plan in conjunction with the constituent municipal councils for Osmanabad town, Tuljapur, Naldurg, Bhum, Kalamb, Omerga, Paranda and Washi — all of which serve as local planning authorities within their jurisdictions.

Dharashiv lies in the Marathwada region of central Maharashtra on the border with Karnataka and Telangana, and is best known for the Tulja Bhavani temple at Tuljapur — one of the four Maha-Shakti Peethas of India and the kuldevi of the Maratha clan. The district is also home to the Naldurg fort and the ancient Buddhist caves at Dharashiv. Major crops include sugarcane, soybean, jowar and pulses, with sugar factories anchoring much of the rural-industrial activity.

The plan overlay on this page reflects the published regional and municipal zoning and land-use boundaries georeferenced over satellite imagery, covering Dharashiv town, the tehsil centres, the surrounding agricultural plains, and the historic and pilgrimage sites across the district.
