Amravati Development Plan — key details
The Amravati Development Plan is administered by the Amravati Municipal Corporation. A revised Development Plan for Amravati was sanctioned by the Government of Maharashtra in 1992 under the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966, focusing on infrastructure upgrades, housing and transportation networks to accommodate urban expansion in the divisional headquarters of the Amravati Revenue Division.
Amravati is the headquarters of one of Maharashtra’s six revenue divisions, covering Akola, Buldhana, Washim and Yavatmal districts in addition to Amravati district itself. The city is connected by the broad-gauge Mumbai-Howrah trunk railway line and by national highways that link Vidarbha to Marathwada and the rest of the state. Industrial activity in the Amravati MIDC and the adjacent textile park focuses on cotton ginning, textiles and processing.
The DP overlay on this page reflects the published municipal zoning, reservation and road-line boundaries georeferenced over satellite imagery, including the older city core around the Ambadevi temple, the institutional cluster of Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, and the expanding industrial and residential peripheries.
